The Suhaag Wedding Show is a unique event that showcases vendors that provide products and services to the Indian community. MCR provided 4 plasma screen rentals with poles stands to Gary Banga Photography. The screens were then draped and framed giving the screens that appearance of picture frames floating on a wall. Both landscape and portrait mounts were used. Gary was extremely happy with both the quality of the screens and the installation process.

MCR was proud to be a part of the 2009 NHL Alumni Charity Banquet hosted at Toronto’s Marriott Airport hotel. The event was part of the first ever NHL Alumni Week and counted more than 70 NHL legends of all ages were in attendance.

“Mr. Hockey”™ earns “Man of the Year”

The event honoured “Mr. Hockey”™ himself, Gordie Howe, who was presented with the NHL Alumni Association’s “Man of the Year” award. Mr. Howe received the award for his community work and ongoing involvement with a number of charitable causes. The dinner raised more than $50,000 for the “Hockey’s Greatest Family Fund” which assists former hockey players who are in need.

“7th Man Award” goes to Scotty Morrison

Scotty Morrison also received the Keith McCreary “7th Man Award” for all his contributions to hockey over the years. Earle Connor, a Paralympic gold medal winner, was the recipient of the “Ace Bailey Award of Courage.”

On the mike was Dave Schultz who entertained the crowd by recanting tales form his childhood, when he used to watch, in awe, “Mr Hockey”™ on the ice.

Plasmas, LCD Projectors and AV equipment provided by MCR Rental Solutions

MCR provided all of the technical equipment for the celebration, outfitting the room with plasma screens, speakers and stands, wireless mics, an LCD projector and a 9 x 11 ft. projector screen.

Seat Selection Kiosks were in action

Touch Screen kiosk rentals were set up to make seat selection that much easier and MCR’s technicians were onsite to make sure the event ran as smoothly as possible.

Highlights from the night will be available in webcast format on the company website.

So you have decided to invest in a new flat panel TV, be it plasma or LCD. Now how to set it up?

2 Most Important Factors

There are many factors to consider. The 2 most important factors to take into account is the size of the room it will be viewed in, and the lighting in the room you wish to place it.

Good Rule of Thumb

First off, getting the right size of TV. The best way to determine the size of TV is to know how far you intend to be from the TV when viewing. A good rule of thumb is your widescreen TV should be 4” in size for every foot away in distance. So, if you have a distance of 8’ from the TV, a 32” widescreen TV should do nicely, whereas a 50” TV should have a room at least 12 feet of separation from the viewer and the set.

Plasma & LCD TV Height

Next is to make sure when the plasma screen is mounted, either on a wall or on a entertainment centre, the TV height is set so that the middle of the screen is at eye level when sitting down. It may seem a bit low when wall mounted, but this is not a picture frame your viewing when walking by; you want to be sure your not straining you neck when viewing from a seated position.

Screen Positioning

Next, be sure to try to have the TV positioned in such a way that direct sunlight is not beaming off the set, or that lighting above the TV is not directly reflecting. Choosing a tilt mount for the wall give you the most flexibility, and when tilted on a 4-7 degree downward angle can make a huge difference in clarity of picture.

Calibrating Your Plasma or LCD TV

Lastly, calibrating your TV brightness, colour, and contrast settings. Most plasma and LCD displays are sold in “big box” stores with settings tuned to the environment of the store. Unless you live in a warehouse, you will need to change this settings. Most TV’s have built-in settings for different lighting conditions, and you choose the one that most closely matches the room conditions you have.
