How to Maximize Your Laptop’s Battery Life
All laptop batteries are a “consumable” product that decreases in performance over time. There are however, many things you can do to maximize or improve the life and performance of your battery.
1) Always make sure your are using the correct AC adaptor for your notebook model. Using the incorrect charging unit can cause the battery to not charge fully, correctly, and can severely damage the battery and laptop
2) Cycle your battery at least once a month by letting the battery drain to less than 3%. This helps maintain your battery’s capacity
3) Batteries prefer room temperatures. If used in a cold environment, battery performance can be temporarily degraded. In high temperatures, the battery may not charge at all, until a normal temperature is restored. Keep in mind high temperatures can also be caused by intensive calculation or high end graphics applications.
4) If storing your battery, store it with a charge of less than 50% to reduce battery wear.
5) Use the recommended power scheme provided by your laptop computer manufacturer whenever possible.
Using these steps consistently will help promote longer battery life.
